Imagine that you are the Queen, looking out of the windows of Buckingham Palace and you see Katie, Jack and a lion walking past. James created his first Katie book 'Katie's Picture Show' over twenty years ago as a way to share his enthusiasm for art with children.

Katie and her brother go out with their Grandma one day, she asks them to sit down by the Lion on Trafalgar Square and wait for her and so the fun begins! His collaborators include the London Mozart Players, BBC National Orchestra of Wales and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. James Mayhew studied at Maidstone College of Art and his first children's book, Katie's Picture Show was published in 1989. James Mayhew knows just how to capture the imagination and he depicts all the famous sights, beautifully drawn.Flo has it in her class at school and is excited to go to London to see the sites and to see the lion. One of the Trafalgar Square lions comes to life and takes them on a wonderful tour of all the best sights! James Mayhew's first book for children was Katie's Pictures Show, (Orchard Books 1989) establishing the long running series about a child's adventures in an art gallery.

From Peter and the Wolf, to Scheherazade, James has worked internationally with many different orchestras and musicians, creating illustrations in time to music. Our team is made up of book lovers who are dedicated to sourcing and providing the best books for kids. Not everyone will be acquainted with London and its famous sighs, children new to London will enjoy it, children who have visited these sights will enjoy revisiting them through this story, and a class teacher could use it as an introduction to a visit into central London. We work closely with publishers and authors to ensure that we offer the best books on the market for your child. It follows the adventures of Katie and her younger brother Jack who take a tour around London on the back of a golden lion from Trafalgar Square. When Katie and her cousin Jack visit London with Grandma, they don't think there's much to see and do. Alongside his work in publishing, James has devised and performed in a hugely successful series of concerts for children, combining live classical music, storytelling and live art.

I expect this book will bring up the children's experiences of London and places they have been with their families. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. It has some further information at the back of the book for those who want to know more about some of the places and, of course, if you're planning a trip to London to take part in any of the celebrations this would be a nice way to show a child what there is to see. There isn't anything about the new buildings and developments for the Olympics, but as 2012 is the Queen's Jubilee it works well for any little ones who are interested in the Queen and where she lives. While their Grandmother is asleep they experience a wonderful adventure when a stone lion comes to life and gives them an insiders guide to London. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. Summary: A lovely introduction to some of the very famous sights in London, perfect for sharing with children during the Queen's Jubilee year!
